Indore Police implements unique crime prevention tactics with oaths and public punishment | Indore News

Indore Police is taking unique measures to combat crime

Indore: In an attempt to curb the rise criminal activities in Gandhi Nagar, Indore Police on Saturday, followed an unconventional strategy by making offenders take an oath in the name of their respective gods. Under the supervision of Gandhi Nagar Anil Yadav police station had eight identified troublemakers lined up in a public area. In the presence of police personnel, the perpetrators swore on their gods.
After taking the oath, the offenders were ordered to perform squats as punishment. This was not the only example of public action against miscreants.
On Friday, Bhanwarkuan police arrested six men involved in a robbery. The suspects were caught with a stolen mobile phone and a bicycle after a tip. Among those arrested were Dheeraj alias Kalu, Rajesh alias Raj, Akhilesh Lodhi, Lavish Kirade and two minors.
As a measure to deter further criminal activity, police paraded the suspects through the area and made them publicly apologize while holding their ears. In another incident, the airport police arrested a notorious criminal, Vishal Baurasi, for theft at Shri Krishna Enterprises at 60 Feet Road. Stolen mobile phones were recovered from Baurasi and two minors to whom he sold the items.
Interestingly, Baurasi got the number ‘302’ tattooed on his chest, which symbolizes the section of the Indian Penal Code for murder, in an attempt to intimidate others. He is a repeat offender and more than fifteen thefts have been registered against him.
In another move, Indore Police announced a token bounty of Re 1 for two absconding criminals, Tabrez and Bittu, whose photographs were shown in an official notice issued by DCP Vinod Meena. The message said, “Indore Police are seeking information about absconders Tabrez and Bittu. A reward of ₹1 (50 paise each) is being offered for their arrest. Citizens are encouraged to share clues without fear.”
DCP Meena said: “These offenders consider themselves the ‘dons’ of the city, and expect to receive significant bounties upon their capture. To deflate their egos and emphasize their insignificant status, we have increased their value only Re 1 set.”
