Helen George, star of Call the Midwife, is a favorite among TV audiences for her portrayal of Trixie Franklin, who is making a comeback in BBC One this Christmas Day.
The Sun has hinted that Trixie, who has been through a rollercoaster of events on the series, could leave the show as her character’s recent husband, Matthew Aylward, played by Olly Rix, left at the end of the last series.
Trixie could face heartbreak again, reflecting Helen’s own romantic challenges over the past year, including her divorce from Jack Ashton, the father of her two daughters and a former co-star who played Reverend Tom Hereward.
In a July statement posted online, Helen announced: “Several months ago we separated. Our two beautiful girls remain the focus and I respectfully request privacy for this next chapter.”
Following her split from her husband, she found solace with co-star Olly Rix, with the pair dating earlier this year after growing closer.
However, their romance was reportedly short-lived, with a source telling The Sun: “They were there for each other after their splits. But it appears they are no longer close and have made this clear by deleting each other on social media. media.
“Olly even went one step further and deleted a photo of him and Helen Instagram.” It came just a few months after Olly described Helen as “amazing and fantastic”.
Fortunately, the two don’t have to meet on set, with Helen returning for the new series, but Olly not, as his character moved to New York for a fresh start in the business world.
Helen was previously married to actor Oliver Boot for three years before they split in 2015. Helen reflected on her divorce and said: ‘Going through a divorce is awful. I was asked to do this strictly and as strange as it sounds, I thought it would be so. as a kind of therapy after my divorce.
“I had spoken to quite a few people who said it really helped them through some tough times. You focus on this one thing, it’s an emotional journey. I was so naive that I thought no one would be interested in me, so That was a bit of a shock. I quickly realized that I didn’t want all that celebrity stuff.”, reports Wales Online.
The 39-year-old starred in a stage production of The King and I, and revealed to The Times that she opened up about her character’s experiences. Helen said: “She has to make this work. And it’s something I’ve experienced. I’m a single mother who has to be financially responsible for both my children.”
She added, “There’s no man in my life right now, and there’s no man in Anna’s life. So I thought, this is a perfect match for me, especially right now.”
