The Oluwo of Iwo, Osun State, Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi, has called on preachers and Islamic clerics popularly called “Alfas” to take over the leadership of the country by joining politics to strengthen the democracy of the to build the country and establish credible leadership.
Oba Akanbi also urged youths to be courageous and confident to make an impact and reach greater heights.
The monarch made the appeal during a book launch and awards ceremony organized by First Class Pre-varsity (FCP), Ibadan, Oyo State, in honor of academic excellence and milestones of the school.
Seven books were launched at the event, written under the leadership of FCP Director, Mr. Akeem Odebode, popularly known as Mr. Called Prudence. Contributors to the seven books were revealed and given the opportunity to comment on the books and their relationship with Odebode. That day was also Odebode’s birthday. Joining the Oluwo to launch the books were the Senator representing Oyo South Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Sarafadeen Alli; retired OBMS Senior Pastor, Dr. Remi Awopegba; and others.
Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, who presided over the occasion, was represented by the Chairman, Oyo State Agency for Youth Development, Adebowale Falana.
Sarafadeen Alli, the key launcher, called for more investment in children’s education.

Oba Akanbi, the royal father at the time, charged youths to make an impact, saying, “You are not a leader if you cannot change things for the better. You have to make a change. You must be brave and confident. No one uses cowards to lead. You have to have confidence in what you have worked hard for.”
The royal father also urged clerics to join politics. He said: “I charge pastors and Alphas to take over the leadership of Nigeria. You also have to participate in politics. That is the only recruitment process in a democracy. You must enter politics so that we can build our democracy.”
Falana said the state government would collaborate with FCP and make the books part of the state curriculum. He said: “Any parent who wants their children’s success must invest in their education.
We have to thank Akeem for his efforts. Most of his books will be part of the Oyo State curriculum. Governor Seyi Makinde will provide necessary assistance with the books. We are ready to work with you. The Oyo State Government will continue to work with you for development.”
Dr. Awopegba, the spiritual father of that time, said he saw in Odebode a diligent man who demystified myths.
Odebode also said the launch was a turning point in the field of education consultancy.
The educationist said the school would always demonstrate excellence and guide the youth.
He thanked those who contributed to his life and professional development. He said: “I am happy to launch seven books. It is a moment to appreciate. I thank Rev. Remi Awopegba, who embraces me as a son. He is a father.”
