If you are a fan of zombie apocalypse stories and a follower of Jisoo from Blackpinkthen the upcoming K-drama Newtopia is definitely one to watch. The series, set to premiere in 2025, is inspired by Han Sangwoon’s novel ‘Influenza’ and aims to fill the void left by ‘All of Us Are Dead’. Newtopia stars Jisoo as Kang Youngjoo, a fierce survivor fighting to stay alive in a world overrun by a deadly virus. She stars alongside Park Jeongmin, who plays her boyfriend Lee Jaeyoon.
Although the show is still a few months away from streaming, excitement is already building, especially following the release of stunning new stills from the series. In these latest images, Jisoo looks absolutely captivating, and fans can’t wait to see her performance unfold.
The newly released photos show Jisoo, a campus queen, sitting alone in a classroom surrounded by male students who are all eager to ask her out. Other footage shows her terrified expression as she tries to figure out how to survive and fight the zombies. However, not all images are intense. Some show the lighter side of the Blackpink star.
In an earlier interview with Red Velvet’s Seulgi on the YouTube show Hi Seulgi, the singer asked Jisoo if there had been any challenging moments during the filming of Newtopia and why she decided to participate in the series. The Blackpink singer said, “Honestly, nothing was difficult, but later it became tough because of the heat. Wear the same outfit in December and July. I didn’t used to watch that genre. I searched after I received the script. But when I do, I often start thinking, “Hey! What if… it was me?’ Like this. So you know that movie, Warm Bodies. Where the person pretends to be a zombie? Like they’re pretending to be behind. I would run to the zombies. I would be the first to turn into a zombie.”
Newtopia will begin streaming on the Coupang Play app in South Korea and on Prime Video in more than 240 regions starting February 7, 2025.
