The Army’s 53rd Infantry Battalion (53IB) conducted a five-day Platoon Sergeant Training, giving participants the opportunity to make decisions for the good of the troops.
The training was held from Monday, November 25, 2024 to Friday, November 29 at Camp Major David Sabido, where the 53IB headquarters is located in the village of Poblacion, Guipos, Zamboanga del Sur.
The 53IB said on Saturday, November 30, that ten representatives from the battalion’s line companies had attended the training, aimed at sharpening critical thinking, decision-making and leadership skills.
“The program gave our platoon sergeants the necessary skills to make good decisions under pressure, ensuring the success of the mission and the well-being of the troops,” said Lt. Col. Rolando Vargas Jr., 53IB commander.
The culmination of the training delivered two key outcomes: presentation of case scenarios focusing on critical thinking and decision-making in an operational context and holding panel discussions to evaluate the participant’s competency and readiness for higher responsibilities. (SunStar Zamboanga)
