Donna Kelce on her ‘amazing’ acting debut in ‘Christmas on Call’ – and her grandchildren’s sweet reaction (exclusive)

Donna Kelce talks about her experiences as an actress.

On Friday, November 29, PEOPLE met Donna at Arrowhead Stadium as she watched her son Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs take on the Las Vegas Raiders.

When asked about making her acting debut on Holiday Touchdown: A Love Story for the ChiefsDonna, 72, says it was “so amazing”.

“There were so many wonderful Hallmark movie veterans and I loved learning from all of them,” she says.

“It’s so nice to be in Kansas (City) at Christmas,” she adds, noting that she has been at the stadium “for the past 11 years.”

Donna also says her grandchildren couldn’t get enough: “(They) kept saying, ‘Play it, play it!’ She and her ex-husband Ed have a total of three grandchildren, Jason and his wife Kylie McDevitt Kelce‘S three daughters, Wyatt, Elliotte and Bennett.

The film, which premieres on November 30 on the Hallmark Channel, follows a love story between the Chiefs’ director of fan engagement (Tyler Hynes) and one of the team’s superfans (Hunter King). Kelce plays the manager of a barbecue restaurant, who gives advice in the trailer.

Days after Donna wrapped her scenes, King and Hynes spoke to PEOPLE on set and raved about the Kelce matriarch’s warm presence.

“She’s just so sweet,” King said. “Such a doll and it was as if a mother was there.”

Hynes agreed, revealing that Donna asked them to write her son Travis, 35, a note to put in his locker since they were filming at the actual stadium.

“I wrote the lyrics to ‘Friends in Low Places,’” Hynes said. “And I said, ‘Never change.’”

“I think I wrote something like, ‘Thank you for letting us steal your field and your mother,’” King added.

In addition to Donna, Hynes and King, the film also features an impressive array of stars and cameos: Jenna Bush HagerDiedrich Bader, Megyn Price, Richard Riehle, Christine Ebersole, Richard Christie and Chiefs Head Coach Andy Reidalongside a handful of Kansas City Chiefs players.
