Harris withdrew from Joe Rogan podcast due to ‘backlash’ from progressive staff: report

A campaign official reportedly said Vice President Kamala Harris was withdrawing appearing on Joe Rogan’s podcast for fear of backlash within the Democratic Party. .

The Financial Times reported Wednesday that Jennifer Palmieri, senior adviser to Second Gen. Doug Emhoff, said talks about Harris appearing on “The Joe Rogan Experience” fell through “due to concerns about how the interview would be perceived within the Democratic Party.”

“There was a backlash from some of our progressive staffers who didn’t want her to be there, and how there was going to be a backlash,” Palmieri reportedly said.

She added that there was a “very strange dynamic” between Rogan and Harris’ team after discussions about Harris’ potential appearance were leaked.

“Because he’s suddenly aware of how his audience is going to react to this, and the demands they’re going to make on him to be tough on her,” Palmieri said.

Fox News digital contacted the Harris campaign for comment.

Rogan has since revealed many details about how the deal fell through, like how her campaign demanded that the interview only last an hour and that he travel to meet her, instead of recording at his podcast studio in Austin, Texas.

He also suggested Tuesday that the campaign wanted impose restrictions about what they would talk about during an interview.

“They had, I don’t know how many conversations with my parents, but multiple conversations with different dates, different times, different this, different that, and we knew she was going to be in Texas, so I said ‘open invitation,’” said Rogan. “I think they made demands on things that she didn’t want to talk about, she didn’t want to talk about the legalization of marijuana, which I thought was hilarious.”

He added that the campaign seemed “chaotic” and that the vice president was not good at unscripted situations.

“I don’t know if she’s good at running things because you’d have to be behind the scenes to see how that works, but when it comes to talking from the top of her head, what she’s good at is a pre-rehearsed speech that she reads from a teleprompter, pretty solid,” Rogan said.
