Sleep expert reveals duvet hack other countries swear by and says Britain is crazy for not doing it – Lifestyle

A sleep expert has come up with a hack that could be extremely helpful if you’re struggling to keep your eyes closed.

It’s something that’s quite standard in European countries, but not many people in Britain have adopted the habit.

And it can potentially save couples a lot of arguing.

There are several things that can get in the way of a good night’s sleep, including: be near your phone or sleeping with your partner in the same bed.

The latter has caused quite a stir, although there is something called the ‘Scandinavian sleeping method’ has become popular again as winter approaches.

The radiators start to come on, which is nice when you’re awake, but the heat can often be difficult to come down asleep with because we often look for ways to stay cool at night, like sticking your toes out of the covers.

But it looks like sleep experts are bringing back the famous sleeping method of our friends in Scandinavia viral last year.

James Wilson, known as The Sleep Geek, explained Unpleasant the Mirror that this method is a game-changer for giving you a well-rested night.

Although it is quite popular abroad, it seems that the Great Britain miss, he explains: “If you have a partner, sleep with two duvets instead of one.

“In Northern European countries, such as Denmark or Norway, couples usually have two duvets, so everyone has their own duvet while sleeping.”

He continued: “They think we in Britain are crazy – why share a duvet? If you are a hot sleeper and lie next to someone, they come and sit on your side of the bed, which makes you hot!

“Especially for women, your core temperature is a little too high to sleep in the week before and during your period. So if you have someone next to you who makes you feel warmer, that is not good.”

Wilson added that if you “like a light comforter” while your partner likes a “heavy comforter,” someone always loses, and it always ends up in a “comforter war.”

“That person says ‘this is the comforter we have’ and you can end up with a comforter war where one person says ‘I have the comforter, I’d like more of the comforter’, or ‘No, if we have this (kind of) have a duvet, you end up in this kind of struggle,” he explained.

But with your own duvets, he says, you get a better sleeping temperature and you no longer have to fight for the duvet. Nice.

But what about if you’re single and still have trouble regulating your body temperature at night?

Well, TikTok content creator Cecilia Blomdahlwho lives in Svalbard, Norway, near the North Pole, said she had an ‘ultimate’ hack for a good night’s sleep.

She advised: “Always air out your duvets as often as possible. If you can, at least once a week, and especially good when the weather is cold outside. It just makes them so fresh, fluffy and wonderful.”
