Ottawa firefighters respond to barn fire in Kinburn

Firefighters are battling a fire that destroyed a barn in rural west Ottawa on Monday afternoon.

Ottawa Fire Services says crews responded to a farm in the 2900 block of Kinburn Side Road shortly after 1:15 p.m.

Witnesses in the area saw smoke and flames in the area.

According to Nick Defazio, spokesperson for the Ottawa Fire Department, the fire was caused by a vehicle fire in the shed.

Two people were checked at the scene by fire brigade and ambulance personnel. At least one person has symptoms of smoke inhalation.

There were no animals inside.

Because there are no fire hydrants in the area, the fire brigade is working with water.

The fire brigade remains on site to actively fight the fire.
