Biennial take-back day for medicines

SAINT JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. (WNDU) – Something we’ve been focusing on is how to safely dispose of your prescription medications.

The 27th Semi-Annual Drug Take Back Drop Off here in Michiana took place Saturday.

The Saint Joseph County Police Department partnered with the Five-to-Five Foundation to offer these pop-up locations.

This is a way to anonymously dispose of unused or expired medications.

Almost any medicine you can find in your cupboard, even pet medicine, is accepted.

This is an easy way to clean your home while ensuring no one in your household or community is exposed to unused or expired medications.

“Last April, I think we raised almost four thousand pounds, almost two tons just collected in our county, in our area,” said Saint Joseph County Police Chief Joe Focosi.

One of the permanent pill dispensing locations is the Saint Joseph County Jail on Sample Street in South Bend.
