ED conducted searches in Mumbai and four cities following a money laundering probe into illegal ticket sales for Diljeet Dosanjh and Coldplay concerts.
MUMBAI: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has conducted searches in Mumbai and four other cities across the country as part of its money laundering probe in connection with the alleged illegal sale of concert tickets of Indian singer-actor Diljeet Dosanjh and the international music band Coldplay. The agency’s initial investigation has revealed the involvement of multiple individuals known for selling tickets, including counterfeit tickets via social media.

The ED searches were conducted as part of its investigation into the illegal sale of concert tickets by scammers, the financial networks that support such activities, and tracing the end beneficiaries of the money generated from the crime, ED sources said.
Besides Mumbai, the searches were conducted in Delhi, Jaipur, Chandigarh and Bengaluru. During the search, several items were seized, including mobile phones, laptops and SIM cards used for fraud. ED’s investigation was based on several cases registered by police in multiple states, including an FIR by BookMyShow, an online site that provides tickets for concerts and movies/events, against several suspects believed to be exploiting concert goers. The FIR alleged that suspects took advantage of the high demand for these coveted music concerts by selling fake tickets and were responsible for drastic price inflation.
Dosanjh’s ‘Dil-Luminati World Tour’ concerts will be held across India in October and November, including Saturday in Delhi. Coldplay’s ‘Music of the Spheres World Tour’ will take place at Navi Mumbai’s DY Patil Stadium on January 18, 19 and 21, 2025. “Both events have created tremendous excitement, say leading official ticketing partners BookMyShow and Zomato Live. tickets were sold out within minutes on their platforms, which eventually led to black marketing of tickets at exorbitant prices,” the ED source said.
Following the rapid sell-out, numerous reports have emerged alleging that people have been defrauded through fraudulent ticket sales. Many fans discovered that counterfeit tickets were being sold or exorbitant prices were being charged for legitimate tickets, ED sources said.
