Hyderabad Police Commissioner apologizes for saying national media has been ‘bought over’

The police commissioner said he lost his cool when confronted with provocative questions about ongoing investigations.

“I apologize for losing my cool when I was constantly asked provocative questions about ongoing investigations and made unnecessary general comments on national media,” Anand said in a post on ‘X’

“I feel bad that I was provoked and that it was wrong and I should have stayed calm. I wholeheartedly withdraw my comments,” the police commissioner said.

The IPS officer made the comments as some reporters from television channels continued their questions on the December 4 incident at Sandhya Theater during the first show of ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’ and the case against actor Allu Arjun.

“You still support… I know the national media how they have behaved. All bought over. Completely bribed. No shame. Overbought, I tell you this,” Anand told reporters.

Police on December 22 released minute-by-minute CCTV footage of the incident at Sandhya Theater in which a woman was killed and her eight-year-old son seriously injured. The police commissioner said investigations in the case are still ongoing. Police will seek legal advice on how to proceed.
