Three members of a robbery gang have been charged in the Johor courts

JOHOR BARU: Three members of the “Gang Atan” were charged in the Magistrate’s Court here in residential burglary and theft cases.

The suspects, Teo Kiam Hong, 48, Mah Mui Fei, 46, and Liew Seong Khan, 42, pleaded not guilty to all charges when read before magistrate Hidayatul Syuhada Shamsuddin.

In the first charge, the trio were jointly charged under Section 411 of the Criminal Code for stealing a television from a house at Jalan Mutiara Emas 2/17, Taman Mount Austin, on December 11, 2024.

At the same court, Teo faced four additional charges under section 411 of the same law for receiving stolen goods including gold jewelry, a bag, a video game, stealing an identity card and keeping a stolen car at the same location . and date.

Teo was also charged under section 29(1) of the Minor Offenses Act 1955 for possessing the registration plate of a vehicle. He allegedly committed this offense on November 12, 2019 in a restaurant on Jalan Mutiara Emas.

He was also charged under Section 414 for disposing of a storage box at a gold shop at Jalan Harmonium on December 15, 2024.

Meanwhile, Mah was accused of receiving a stolen ID card at the same house on Jalan Mutiara Emas on December 11, 2024, while Liew was accused of disposing of stolen gold jewelry at a gold shop on Jalan Kota Tinggi on December 14, 2024.

The cases were handled by deputy public prosecutors Nik Noratini Nik Azman and Siti Aishah Latif.

Hidayah fixed February 14 and 25 for the next mention of the cases and set bail between RM2,000 and RM6,000 with one surety for each offence.

The trio was also charged in two separate sessions courts with drug offenses under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act, which is non-bailable.

Mah pleaded not guilty when the charges were read out before Judge Datuk Ahmad Kamal Arifin Ismail, while Teo and Liew pleaded not guilty before Judge Hazeelia Muhammad.

The cases at the Sessions Court were handled by Deputy Public Prosecutors Lydia Salleh, Nurul Syafiqah Sha’ari and Siti Fatimah Mamu, while the suspects were not represented by lawyers.

Ahmad Kamal Arifin set February 4 for the next entry for Mah, while Hazeelia set February 4 for the next entry for Teo and Liew.
