Drink with 2 ingredients reduces stress and hair loss

Biohacker Dave Asprey says he has the secret to combating hair loss – and one of the most important steps is reducing stress.

“You need to keep your stress levels in check because cortisol causes you to get thin hair,” the Bulletproof founder said on the website Mindbodygreen podcast.

That may be easier said than done. But while we can’t all just do that eliminate external stressors He emphasizes that a two-ingredient drink in the morning can make a noticeable difference in our lives.

Asprey, 51, said his own wife saw results with his protocol, stating that she “tripled the amount of hair she had at the end of perimenopause.”

Large doses of biotin are a must, and he also recommends red light therapy and taking adaptogenic herbs such as ginsenglicorice root and ashwagandha in the morning.

But one of his favorite “supplements” isn’t a supplement at all.

“When you wake up in the morning, you probably want to take a pinch of Himalayan sea salt, put it in water and drink it,” he said.

“And the reason for that is a hormone called aldosterone, and it’s one of your stress hormones… you need to have higher blood pressure in the morning so that you don’t pass out when you get out of bed.”

Aldosterone is involved in regulating blood pressure. It also regulates sodium and potassium levels in your blood, important electrolytes that regulate nerve and muscle function.

“A little salt in the morning reduces stress all day long. It actually makes you feel better all day,” he added.

The mixture, also known as ‘some water’, has gone viral. However, research to support Asprey is limited.

Mindbody green points to a study that found salt can lower cortisol levels, while other research has suggested it can help with hydration, sleep and weight loss.

But several other studies show disadvantages of excessive sodium intake, and many experts warn against it.

“Most Americans get enough sodium in their diet, often more than necessary, so adding more salt to drinking water will likely increase that amount even further over the course of the day,” Jen Bruning, a registered dietitian, told me. Very good health.

“You might as well save that salt to sprinkle on your eggs for breakfast instead of adding it to the drinking water,” she added.

“You would have to consume incredibly large amounts of sole water to get any significant amount of minerals other than sodium,” fellow registered dietitian Gillian Culbertson told the Cleveland Clinic. “And at that point, the sodium level would be well above a healthy intake.”

She claimed that there is already so much salt in our food that adding more to water is “counterproductive.”

“We recommend that the general population consume less than 2,300 milligrams of sodium per day, or 1,500 mg for anyone on a low-sodium diet. That can be difficult enough to achieve without purposefully adding salt water as part of your diet.”

Salt water is also consumed as a remedy for constipation. This means that drinking it when you are not constipated can lead to unpleasant side effects in the bathroom.
