Couple snatches Christmas tree from store and comes back for more — Shades of the Grinch: Bainbridge Township police blotter

BAINBRIDGE TOWNSHIP, Ohio –

Theft, marketplace ride:

Officers responded to the Michaels store on December 9 at 1:43 p.m. when employees there saw a couple they suspected of shoplifting Christmas trees. This time they didn’t. However, store employees reported that the same couple entered the store together on Dec. 7 at 2:20 p.m. and split up to shop. The man left the store with an artificial tree that he had not purchased. An employee recognized them as the same couple who had taken another tree under similar circumstances on December 3. The police are investigating.

Theft, marketplace ride:

Employees at the Gabès store reported that two women entered their store wearing masks on December 20 shortly before 7 p.m. They tried on Carhart jackets and left the store with them without paying for the jackets. One wore a gray hoodie and the other a pink hat. The police are investigating the incident.

Crash, market square ride:

EMS transported a Warrensville Heights woman, 29, to Ahuja Medical Center after reporting she was struck by the mirror of a passing vehicle at 7:12 p.m. Dec. 16. The woman was standing outside a shop with her one-year-old daughter in her arms when the incident occurred. She had a bruised hip and her daughter appeared unharmed. The woman said she did not see the car. Witnesses gave conflicting statements about the suspected car. No one saw the car hit her, but they heard her scream and then saw a car drive away.
