I still remember the day my father gave me my first vinyl record. It was winter ’99 and on a Saturday, after Louis Armstrong played Greatest hits album in a loop, he removed the vinyl from the turntableput it in the sleeve, looked at me and said with a smile, “Since you love this album so much, it can be yours.” That one moment began a lifelong love affair with music and records that continues to this day.

Since then, every chance I can, I make an effort to go to my local record store (or check out a new one when I’m traveling) for a new find. As you can imagine, I’ve been left with quite an extensive collection. For a while, I stored them the same way my father did in the 1970s: in random boxes and crates. However, a few years ago I came across the ultimate record cabinet which easily houses not only all my albums, but also my entire media setup. Say hello to the Crosley Everett media console.

What is the Crosley Everett Media Console?

Now those familiar with records will immediately recognize the Crosley name as this is the brand behind the ‘suitcase’ themed record players that used to be everywhere during the vinyl resurgence in the early 2010s. However, the brand now has Also made a foray into the furniture business with pieces for the whole house, including some pretty amazing ones storage cabinets for vinyl recordslike the Everett.

Designed to act as the ultimate media console, this piece with shelves on one side (perfect for all your devices, including games consoles, stereos and the like) and a record station on the other, with an opening for a record player and a base with slots for albums. Wrapped in a beautiful walnut finish and accented with two sliding doors, this mid-century modern beauty is both functional and easy on the eyes.

Why I love the Crosley Everett media console

When I was a kid, my dad always made the music play with its vintage Koronette stereo bar, with a built-in radio, record player and – true to mid-century form – a built-in fold-out bar (I can’t wait to inherit it one day. Well, I can, but you get the idea). When it came to finding a piece for my music collection, I knew I wanted to find something that also evoked the same whimsy, with a little more storage space – and I found it (and then some) in the Everett.

For me, I couldn’t design a better vinyl record storage cabinet if I tried. First of all, it is amazing. The rich walnut hue makes it look three times more expensive, while the gold-handled doors and accents (there are two, but I’m only wearing one to display my records) and flared legs make it look like something straight out of the series. Crazy men.

But where it really shines is storage. Here’s a quick list of everything I keep in (and on) my Everett: mine whole record collection, a record player, a DVD player (yes, I still have one), a stereo, my collection of guitar books, all my guitar accessories, an array of CDs (again, yes I still have those too), a few coffee table books, my jewelry stand, a few candles, a diffuser, my collection of sunglasses and my Tidbyt – all without looking messy. It really is the “Mary Poppins bag” among furniture.

The Crosley Everett media console It normally costs $589, but you can get your hands on it for just $318 if you shop now (that’s 46% off!). So whether you’re just starting your collection or are looking for a great way to house (and display) the vast amount of records (and media) you already own, I think you’ll love this piece just as much like me. Doing. If you’ll excuse me, I have a date with Sachmo.
