In photos shared exclusively with PEOPLE, the actor, 53, was spotted flaunting an ultra-muscular body while vacationing on the coast of Barbados on Saturday, December 21. You can see him relaxing, mingling with the locals and forgoing the camera while on a walk.

Yet another shows the Arthur the King actor wearing a navy blue baseball cap, matching t-shirt and sunglasses as he walks past some reclining beach chairs.

While it’s unclear whether Wahlberg maintains optimal physical fitness for a specific role, the actor has previously been outspoken about the importance of physical fitness in life — especially as it relates to longevity.

“It used to be about aesthetics when you were trying to get in shape,” says the actor told only to PEOPLE in 2023. “Now I want to live a long time.”

“I encourage everyone: even if you only exercise for ten minutes, you will feel better. We are all very happy and blessed. You want to live as long as possible. You want to be able to move, and you definitely should,” he added.

Earlier that same year, the Wahlburgers became a co-founder told PEOPLE exclusively that he is forced to adjust his training with age.

“I’m starting to realize that I’m 51 years old. I have to stay on my path and know that I don’t have to try to outdo or outdo everyone,” he said. “I just have to push myself a little bit more and continue to try to drag out this beautiful life for as long as possible.”

Getting more specific, he shared, “I’m targeting muscle groups. I don’t need to lift as heavy, but I need to have better form, hold longer, and squeeze longer,” adding, “I wish I had listened to the people who tried to tell me these things and gave me this kind of advice 20 years ago.”

The Boston-born action star also admitted that being an actor and transforming his body for different roles definitely affects his life and overall routines.

“It’s kind of shaped what I’ve done and how I’ve approached the next four or five months (of my life) every year for the last 20 years,” he said, noting, “I mean, I’ve fluctuated my weight from 215 lbs. to 137 lbs., which is pretty extreme.” (Wahlberg gain 30 pounds. for 2022’s Father Stu, in which he revealed he probably wouldn’t do it again as “It took quite a toll on me.”).
