An angry husband did the unthinkable when he sent a homemade explosive to his wife’s house after she filed a divorce petition, Deccan Herald reported.

The man, from the Indian city of Ahmedabad, became angry after his wife filed for divorce and delivered a bomb to her home, injuring three people.

According to police, a loud explosion was heard at a terraced house on IOC Road in the jurisdiction of Sabarmati police station at 10.45 am India time.

The delivery man, identified as Gaurav Gadhvi, was handing over the parcel to a woman, identified as Kirit Sukhadia, when it exploded, injuring three people, Deccan Herald reported.

Police said the suspect targeted Kirit’s brother Baldev, who escaped the attack unharmed. He told reporters that he had not accepted the package or even placed an order.

However, the delivery person said it was sent by “Suresh bhai”. While they were arguing, the package exploded, injuring Kirit and the delivery man and ripping off his hands.

Baldev said he was temporarily blinded by the massive explosion.

Neeraj Badgujar, the Joint Commissioner of Police, told Deccan Herald that the package was sent by Rupen Barot, who was angry over the petition filed 10 months ago.

“Barot suspected that it was Baldev Sukhadia who pushed his wife to file the divorce petition. Barot has several cases of smuggling and has also been booked under PASA (Prevention of Anti-Social Activity Act),” Badgujar added.

Police also found a ‘mini-factory’ where bombs and country-made weapons were made when they raided the suspect’s house. They also recovered a lot of incriminating material showing that Barot was involved in making illegal weapons and bombs.
