Armed gardai grab a gun from a man in broad daylight in Limerick

ARMED gardai have seized a gun from a man at a busy intersection on the outskirts of the city, Limerick Live has learned.

A Garda spokesperson said: “Gardaí were alerted to an incident involving a man in possession of an offensive weapon in the Watchhouse Cross area, Limerick city, at around 12 noon on Tuesday, December 3.”

Limerick Live understands the weapon in question is not a firearm.

Gardai say there have been no injuries “at this time”.

“Following the incident, the man has now been arrested and charged and is scheduled to appear before Limerick District Court on Wednesday, December 4, 2024 at 10:30 am.

“As this is now a matter before the Limerick District Court, An Garda Síochána is not in a position to comment further,” a Garda spokesperson said.
