HOUSTON – Bail has been set at $600,000 for a man in custody sexual assaults and apartment burglaries in the past three months.

Denzeill Sneed, 29, was arrested Wednesday at Acres Homes, less than two miles from where the attacks occurred. Sneed, who was recently paroled in September for aggravated robbery and evading arrest, is now facing a burglary charge and plans to commit sexual assault for two assaults.

Harris County Assistant District Attorney Jay Gordon said detectives will continue to examine the evidence, as well as evidence in other cases.

“There have been some news reports of other sexual assaults similar to this one that occurred around the same time in the same area,” Gordon said.

A second suspect in connection with the attacks in the West Gulf Bank area was arrested on Friday evening. Jayden Jercoyus Demouchet was charged with burglary of a habitation.

Demouchet was scheduled to appear in court on Monday, but was not physically present. Prosecutors provided details about his case.

While Demouchet was on the run, prosecutors say he continued to sexually assault women. That’s how police found him Friday after receiving a call that he had attacked two different women at the Concord at Little York Apartments.

A neighbor told KPRC 2’s Corley Peel that he saw Demouchet walking around without pants just before the suspect’s attack.

Gordon says there is no connection between the two suspects at this time.

What we know so far

In both cases, Sneed is accused of breaking into the women’s apartments as they walked their children to the bus stop and then sexually assaulting them when they returned, court documents show.

The judge said the first incident occurred on Aug. 14 at an apartment complex on West Gulf Bank Rd. Officers said that at 6:30 a.m., a woman told them she had been attacked in her apartment after Sneed broke in and was waiting in her apartment after taking her child to the bus stop.

The second attack, which last occurred on Friday, November 8, occurred at an apartment complex in the 5000 block of West Little York Rd. KPRC 2’s Bryce Newberry spoke to a witness at the scene who said she knew the woman who was attacked and said Sneed broke into the victim’s apartment while she was walking to the bus stop with her child. When she returned, he waited behind the door in her house and sexually assaulted her.

One of the alleged victims of Sneed’s attacks spoke with KPRC 2’s Corley Peeldescribing the horrific attack.

She spoke Spanish, so KPRC 2 used a translator.

“I heard some kind of noise, and I looked out and through the closet door, and there was a man standing there,” she said. “(He) came out of the closet and threw a blanket over my head. We started fighting. He overpowered me. He took all the money I had for rent and bills, and then he sexually assaulted me. I tried to defend myself, but I couldn’t, and he threatened to kill me. And then I went outside to get help, but there was no one there.”

Before Wednesday, officers believed Sneed was also responsible for three more incidents that occurred in the area, but Demouchet is now suspected in those cases.

  • On October 9 around 7 p.m., a woman was attacked at 5300 West Gulf Bank Road by a suspect who entered her apartment. The suspect was armed with a firearm.

  • On October 17 around 2 p.m., a woman was attacked at 5350 West Gulf Bank Road by a suspect who knocked on her apartment door and forced his way inside. The suspect was wearing a balaclava and was armed with a firearm.

  • On October 24, around 7:50 a.m., at 5350 West Gulf Bank Road, a woman was attacked by a suspect who knocked on her apartment door and forced his way inside. The suspect was wearing a balaclava and was armed with a firearm.

“Since releasing surveillance video and photographs of these incidents last Friday, with the help of our partners at the FBI, we have uncovered evidence pointing to the likelihood of a second suspect in the three incidents that occurred in October,” said HPD Cmdr. Elizabeth Lorenzana. .

All victims in both cases were Hispanic.

According to court records, Sneed has a history of violence. During the first attack, he was on parole for aggravated robbery and evading arrest.

Anyone with information about the second suspect or who is a victim of Sneed’s attacks can contact HPD’s Special Victims Unit at 713-308-1180 if requested.
