Shillong: A youth exchange program will be organized between Meghalaya and Kerala, giving the youth an opportunity to get to know the rich cultural heritage of these far-flung states, understand the local ethos and create a bond of friendship.
To be organized jointly by Rotary Club of Shillong and Rotary Club of Kochi East, the program envisages a 10-day tour of Kerala by a team of five hand-picked youth to serve as cultural ambassadors of Meghalaya, starting from January 9 next.
“During their tour of Kerala, the local team will be provided free air passage and home hospitality with Rotary Club members there. They will visit interesting places and interact with different sections,” Amit Saraf, president of Rotary Club of Shillong, said in a statement .
A similar team will visit Shillong in early April next year.
“Students between the ages of 18 and 25, male and female, who are residents of Meghalaya and are well versed in the local culture and ethos, have good communication skills, are fluent in English and supported by an outgoing personality, can apply. Those who have musical skills will be an additional qualification,” the statement said.
