CEO fires 99 employees over Slack for not attending meeting

In a bizarre incident, a US-based CEO fired 99 employees for not attending a meeting. The screenshot of his angry text via Slack was shared on Reddit and received thousands of comments and backlash for his actions.

Shared by a Reddit user, who claimed to have joined the musical instrument industry as an intern, said he was fired by the CEO an hour later. In the screenshot, the CEO, who introduced himself as Baldvin, berated his employees for not taking their jobs seriously and fired 99 of the 110 employees.

“For those of you who didn’t show up for the meeting this morning, consider this your official announcement: you’re all fired,” the CEO wrote to his employees in a Slack message. “You didn’t do what you agreed to do, you didn’t complete your part of the contract and you didn’t show up for the meetings you were supposed to attend and work for.”

“I cancel all agreements between us. Please give back everything you have, log out of all accounts and remove yourself from this Slack immediately,” the angry CEO added.

He further said that he gave them the opportunity to improve their lives, work and grow, but they did not take it seriously.

“Of the 110 people, only 11 were present this morning. Those 11 can stay. The rest of you are fired,” Baldvin wrote. He ended his lengthy text by asking those employees to “get out of my company right now.”

Social media users respond to the CEO’s text

The Reddit users expressed their disbelief over the incident and criticized the CEO. While some wondered if there was more to it.

“I assume the CEO failed to inform the team about that meeting. I can’t believe 99 people won’t attend a meeting if notified,” one Reddit user commented on the viral post.

“What was this meeting that most employees actually missed? Did he send a last minute invite or something? Otherwise I find it hard to believe that 99 people just didn’t show up,” said another user.
