If you watch the Deadpool Collection on Disney+, you’ll notice that it’s universally hated X-Men Origin: Wolverine is missing from the set. The three films in reality Deadpool trilogy are on the list, along with a behind-the-scenes look at Deadpool and Wolverine.

X-Men Origin: Wolverine isn’t technically a Deadpool movie, and certainly isn’t up to the standards of the current films that Ryan Reynolds has worked hard to bring to life, so it makes sense that it’s missing from the list. That said, it is perhaps the most important film when it comes to creating the Deadpool we have today.

Reynolds has long been a fan of the Deadpool character, but that included the complete failure of Wade Wilson X-Men origins that really kicked off his crusade to do Deadpool justice on the big screen. In the film’s first act, fans saw how great Reynolds was for the role, but the character’s mouth was sewn shut and he was given a glimpse into the jokes he still makes to this day.

That film ultimately led to Reynolds getting a real movie Deadpool movie made. In Deadpool 2he literally kills the Origins version of himself on screen. Everyone hates the movie, especially those involved, but it’s hard to argue how much of an impact it had on Deadpool’s life on the big screen. It is also the film that launched the friendship between Reynolds and Hugh Jackman.

What makes the X-Men Origin: Wolverine what’s so funny is the fact that the movie is streaming on Disney+. It’s there on the same services as the other Reynolds Deadpool movies, which means their omission is definitely a choice and not a happy accident.
