Crews in the ‘mop-up phase’ of fighting Blue Mountain bushfire | Lehigh Valley Regional News

LEHIGH TWP., Pa. – Good news on the horizon for the fire burning on Blue Mountain. Crews think they’ve stopped the growth.

As of the last update it is located at just under 600 hectares and is 25% contained.

Officials say they are now in the “clean-up phase” of the firefight.

Crews have been working on the fire for five days and recently received help from a Berks County nonprofit.

“We got food, we got water, we stopped at a few convenience stores, got Tylenol, chap stick for these guys, anything to help them,” explained Richard Miller, chief of Pennsylvania Terrain Search and Rescue.

The Fleetwood-based group also visited North Carolina to deliver donations to Hurricane Helene victims

Officials say there is still a lot of work to be done, and they will be back in this week to help.
