Jay Leno says the 2024 presidential election results were “fair” and “fair.”

Jay Leno is not a fan of it Donald Trumpbut he has positive words for Election Day in general.

The former Tonight Toon host appeared on Wednesday’s episode of CBS‘day show The conversationwhere he said the results of the November 5 presidential election marked “a great day for democracy.”

“There was no cheating; everyone said it was fair,” he said.

Conversation co-host Natalie Morales also asked Leno what he remembered from the time he hosted an episode of his late night talk show the day after a major election.

“It was different in my time,” he says. “You were kind of making fun of both sides.” He continued: “So you got angry letters from both sides. Now you kind of have to choose a side. It’s a little different, but the nice thing about this election is that it was fair. I wasn’t a fan, but that’s okay. It’s the president of the United States. Let’s all come together, thank you very much.”

(In 2009, Leno welcomed President Barack Obama The tonight show, This is the first time a sitting president has appeared on his show.)

Leno added The conversation that he fears there will be “name-calling” and other divisive actions in the days following the November 5 election, in which Trump was elected president-elect, defeating the Democratic nominee Kamala Harris.

His response was more optimistic than others Democrats working in Hollywoodincluding, for example, Billie Eilish, who posted: “It’s a war on women.” Christina Applegate wrote: “Why? Give me your reasons why????? My child is crying because her rights as a woman may be taken away. Why? And if you don’t agree, please unfollow me.” John Cusack wrote in a now-deleted post: “The fact that the country would choose to destroy itself by voting for a convicted felon, rapist and Nazi is a sign of deep nihilism. To say the least.”
