The Google TV app now has a share button for sharing movies/TV shows.

Recipients cannot open shared links if the Google TV app is not installed.

The Share feature is especially useful for those who actively use Google TV.
Google TV the app, not the operating system gets a share button. With a recent update, the Google TV app on Android and iOS added the option to send movies and TV shows to others via a simple URL. However, the implementation is a bit annoying: recipients can’t actually open the links without having the Google TV app themselves.
As noted by 9to5GoogleGoogle TV’s interface now features a share icon in the top right corner when you’re viewing information about a movie or TV episode. On Android, tapping the icon brings up standard sharing options; When you choose where to share the content, you’ll get a text snippet describing the content and a URL that the recipient can click on to see what you sent.

A bit annoying: to open the link, you must already have the Google TV app installed and set up. Tapping one of these links from a mobile device without Google TV will open the app store to install it; Clicking on a desktop or laptop computer will open the Google TV website (Google TV does not have a desktop interface).
Google TV share button: now available
A view of the Google TV app content.
It makes sense that you need Google TV to watch content sent this way, but not being able to even watch the movie or the show’s information without the app seems like a miss. Still, it can be helpful to share content with people you know who are already actively using Google TV, which is likely the target audience for a sharing feature anyway.
The share button is now live in the Google TV app on Android and iOS.
