Compete in the Gladiators micro:bit competition

Hello everyone, my name is Mwaksy, and I’m here to tell you all about how to enter the incredible Gladiators micro:bit competition.

Students, ready? Micro:bits, ready?

This competition is for children aged 7 to 11 in British primary schools to design an amazing new gadget using the BBC micro:bit.

We want students to design and draw a new fitness device that Gladiators like Phantom and Dynamite can use to improve their performance.

Entries for the competition are submitted via the BBC Teach website. Please ensure you have read the terms and conditions carefully before submitting your entry!

You will be taken to a form similar to the following where you can include information about your design and your school. It is very important that a teacher fills out this form, and not the students!

Complete the form with your name, a contact email address, the name of your school and the school zip code.

You can then enter the name of your gadget and upload a photo of the design. This can be hand drawn or digitally designed, and uploaded as JPEG, PNG or PDF.

We only accept one photo per submission, but you can show different views of your design. For example: a side view, a top view. But they must be for the same device and in one file.

You then have space to write something about your design. What does it do? What is it made of? How does it work? Why did you make those choices?

It doesn’t have to be long, between 100 and 300 words.

Then there are a few checkboxes you need to go through.

Confirm the age of your students.

Please confirm that the BBC can use the images and text you submit.

If you have not already done so, read the General Terms and Conditions and the Privacy Statement and confirm them.

Finally, you can sign up to the BBC Teach newsletter for information about future initiatives.

Click send and you’re done!

Registrations for the competition close on December 6, 2024 at 12 noon. One school can submit a total of 3 different entries, but no more. And all participating children must be between 7 and 11 years old on the day registration closes.

Do you need some inspiration? Then check out the BBC micro:bit website for tips, guides and lessons on using this ingenious device.
