A former Navy SEAL involved in the operation to kill the leader of Al-Qaeda Osama bin Laden appeared to threaten young voters with sexual assault on Sunday for voting for the vice president Kamala Harris.
Robert J. O’Neillwho has identified himself as the man who shot bin Laden, responded to a tweet from a liberal influencer Harry Sisson. Sisson posted a photo of himself and four other young men shortly after they voted.
“We are Gen Z voters and we all PROUDLY voted for Kamala Harris!” Sisson wrote. “Real men support Harris!”
On Sunday evening, O’Neill responded to the tweet by claiming they were not men, before bizarrely suggesting he had some sort of sexually abusive relationship with them.
‘You are not men. You guys are boys,” O’Neill wrote. “If there was no social media, you would be my concubines.”
Merriam-Webster defines a concubine as “a woman with whom a man lives without being married” and “one who has a recognized social status in a household lower than that of a wife.” In short, O’Neill seemed to imply that the young men would be his mistresses.
It’s unknown if O’Neill specifically meant that word, but he responded to the tweet’s outrage by doubling down.
Some users online took pains to add a community note to the tweet. As noted in a screenshot, the word O’Neill may have been looking for is “catamite” – an ancient Greek term referring to a young boy dating an older man.
