Mwengi Mutuse celebrates after court lifts stay orders against Kindiki’s swearing-in: “Swear to him”

  • The motion to remove Rigathi Gachagua from the post of his Vice President was sponsored in the National Assembly by Kibwezi MP Mwengi Mutuse
  • The lawmaker was impressed by the Supreme Court’s decision to lift the orders halting the process of replacing the deposed vice president.
  • Mutuse said the court ruling underlined parliament’s findings that Gachagua did not deserve to hold office, and therefore called for the immediate installation of Kithure Kindiki as the new second-in-command.

The lawmaker, who supported the bill to impeach Gachagua in the National Assembly, said the three-judge verdict proved that the legislature wanted to impeach Gachagua.

He called for the immediate installation of Kindiki so that the latter can begin his work as the country’s new second-in-command and thus free the country from the current constitutional impasse.

“The Supreme Court has ruled in our favor so far. Kenya and its people are bigger than any individual. Let us now swear in Professor Kindiki Kithure and put an end to the fear. Kenyans deserve services from their government,” he said .
