CHICAGO – Sixteen puppies arrived in Chicago this week after being rescued from Hurricane Helene.
PAWS Chicago volunteers returned from Asheville, North Carolina, on Monday with a second shipment of dogs from storm-affected areas. The puppies were taken to PAWS Chicago Nan & Wayne Kocourek Medical Center in Little Village, where they will receive care and medical attention.
“Our advanced medical hospital allows us to take action when animals are in need, especially during natural disasters like Hurricane Helene,” said Paula Fasseas, founder and executive chairwoman of PAWS Chicago. “This is our second relief operation for Helene, in which we provide support to shelters overwhelmed by the devastation. By stepping in and transporting animals from the hardest-hit areas, we not only help shelters, but also give these vulnerable animals a chance to find safe, loving homes.”

After receiving a positive medical opinion, the puppies will be available for adoption at the Lincoln Park Adoption Center at PAWS Chicago.
