Portsmouth players were left stranded for a moment after getting stuck in a lift following weekend’s Championship win over QPR.

Pompey’s stars were keen to celebrate their win at Loftus Road, which saw Callum Lang score the winning goal in the second half, but chaos scuppered their post-match plans.

The three points keep Portsmouth in the Championship relegation zone but could prove invaluable at the end of the season as John Mousinho’s side claimed their first win of the season.

However, misfortune later struck when a group of first team stars got stuck in an elevator between floors, prompting them to start rationing water across the group.

A video posted on Instagram by defender Tom McIntyre shows a comical situation as 10 Portsmouth stars try to find a way out, some screaming for help and others just watching.

The elevator door was partially opened to show that the exit was blocked by a wall as defenseman Jordan Williams, waiting for professional help to arrive, tried to find a solution to the malfunctioning elevator.

Water was then distributed to the players, and Lang was concerned that they might be trapped for hours and told his teammates, “Actually, save your water just in case.”

McIntyre later posted a video of the group’s successful rescue and hilariously mocked Lang’s mention of water rationing and added, “I have to get stuck in an elevator every week.”

Lang later saw the funny side of the situation, retweeting the video and adding, “Save the water, guys,” with a brain emoji.

Portsmouth will be hoping this is the only setback as they now turn their attention to Tuesday’s game against Cardiff, with the two teams only separating the bottom places in the table on goal difference.

Meanwhile, Portsmouth’s win over QPR leaves the Hoops bottom of the Championship table with just one win in 10 games this season.
