Photographer admits to secretly recording bride at wedding in AL – Albert Lea Tribune

Pine City wedding photographer accused of secretly recording a woman in 2020 while changing clothes in the bridal suite of an Albert Lea wedding hall pleaded guilty to his charges Tuesday.

Mitchell Donald Ringness, 31, pleaded guilty to one count of invasion of privacy at a hotel, tanning salon or other place relating to the installation or use of a secret device, a gross misdemeanor.

According to a motion filed with the court, the plea agreement includes 180 days of probation for two years, a psychosexual evaluation and compliance, no contact with the victim, payment of restitution upon the victim’s request and a fine of $1,500 plus additional fees.

Court documents show that in April, a detective with the Cloquet Police Department contacted a detective with the Albert Lea Police Department regarding an invasion of privacy. The detective had video footage of the bride’s dressing room, taken from a low angle and showing the woman getting dressed.

Authorities later discovered that the incident occurred in the honeymoon suite at The Barn of Chapeau Shores in Albert Lea.

Ringness’s sentence is scheduled to be announced on January 9.
