A woman is dead and a firefighter injured in a fire in Stockton

The woman died in a fire that broke out in the apartment.

The fire broke out at a first-floor property on Carlile Walk in Stockton, Teesside, shortly after 9pm on Monday.

The woman was rescued by firefighters, but she later died.

A Cleveland Fire Department spokesman said: “No one else could be rescued from the property, however a firefighter suffered burns to the neck and was treated at the scene.”
