Valerie Bertinelli has shared unedited video capturing the aftermath of an anxiety attack.
Bertinelli was struck by anxiety this weekend and took time to completely calm down – with the star recording a video of her hand shaking and glistening with sweat for hours after panic first struck.
‘I’m doing my best. Phew! The aftereffects of an anxiety attack suck. Jesus!’ Bertinelli, 64, said in the video.
In the lengthy caption, Bertinelli made herself anxiously aware of her history, admitting that she hadn’t had a seizure in a while, with the latest one taking her “by surprise.”
To calm down, Bertinelli, who recently split from boyfriend Mike Goodnough, meditated and did EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing therapy).
‘I’ve been sitting on this post for a day because it is incredibly vulnerable and that is always scary to share. But I’m posting this because we’re all here trying our best to have a human experience and none of us want to feel like we’re alone in this,” she wrote in the caption of the video, which was shared on Sunday.

Valerie, pictured on Today in 2022, said she “cried uncontrollably” during the anxiety attack
‘Okay. Deep breaths…here goes…
“So I don’t know if you can tell from this video (and my heart is still beating a little fast as I write this) that I had a really bad anxiety attack today. I haven’t had one like this in a long, long time. A few hours ago I was crying uncontrollably, and my heart felt like it was beating out of my chest. I couldn’t stop shaking.
“I know I’m taking a risk, but I want to share because I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one who has experienced this. Fortunately, these attacks have become much rarer, so this one surprised me a bit today. This is the after effect. While I’m going through the actual attack (lol attack is such an appropriate word. My body and my mind feel like it’s actually under attack). Anyway…
‘I almost distance myself and focus solely on calming down and finding a way to a more relaxed and peaceful body. Because I know it’s just my brain overthinking and catastrophizing, but my body is going into overdrive and I have no control over it.
“Hours later, as I try my best to meditate out of this and get EMDR, this is the aftereffect that I still can’t quite calm down.
‘Part of me is fascinated by what the human body is capable of when our feelings can get in the way or override any reasonable thought, and another part of me is just curious as to how this all happens, you know the weird neuropathies in our brain and how it affects our body, what feelings (which are just information by the way) are and why are they so powerful that they send our body into overdrive.
‘Has anyone else had an extreme anxiety attack and is it taking a while for the after-effects to subside?
“Tell me I’m not alone here and is there anything you’ve found useful too?

“Anyway… this little piece of vulnerability is offered to you by someone who wants you to know that you are not alone. Love you.’
Bertinelli’s anxiety attack comes just weeks after her split from boyfriend Mike Goodnough after ten months of dating.
“They are no longer in a relationship,” a source said People earlier this month
The couple met on Instagram and at first it was strictly platonic, but they bonded in January 2024 because it “felt familiar” and there was a “comfort level.”
They became Instagram official in April 2024 and walked their first red carpet together two months later.

The actress told People in July that being a long-distance couple was “challenging.”
When she first went public with the romance, she explained the attraction.
‘His voice had the most beautiful timbre. I was like, ‘Oh, I can’t talk to this guy right now because that’s really sexy,’” she said.
“We both had strong feelings and tried not to admit them,” she added.
