These are the criminals from our region who have been locked up over the past seven days
A thug who hid from police in a Wendy house while armed with knives, a man who “went off his head” and killed his own grandfather and a company director exposed as a predatory sex offender were among the Merseyside criminals who were imprisoned because of the past week. Also locked up was a boy who tried to kill a love rival by plunging a machete into his heart.
In the meantime, Liverpool Crown Court heard that a burglar had punched a large hole in the roof of a flat, thinking the property was a cannabis farm. Here are the faces of 10 suspects from our region who have been imprisoned over the past seven days:

Liam Brannan
A pedophile’s supporters displayed ‘disgraceful behaviour’ in court as he was found guilty of rape. Liam Brannan repeatedly sexually assaulted his victim when she was just 12 years old before “fear silenced her.”
But after she finally exposed his dark secret, the father-of-three found himself in the dock with his head in his hands as he stared down the barrel of a prison sentence totaling 17 years. However, he continues to maintain his innocence over his campaign of sickening abuse.
Charles Parkinson
A thug was found hiding in a Wendy house armed with knives after attacking a Go Outdoors employee. Carl Parkinson and his accomplice David Gray attacked the worker when a third defendant, Julie O’Brien, attempted to steal hundreds of pounds of luxury goods from the store.
He was later arrested in possession of two guns at a children’s playhouse after a father spotted the intruder lurking in his garden from a distance on CCTV footage while his wife and children stayed at home. It came after the serial offender bit a prison officer on the leg during another stint behind bars.
Parkinson admitted theft, assault, two counts of possessing a bladed article in a public place and assault occasioning actual bodily harm. Appearing before HMP Liverpool via video link, he was jailed for 42 months and given a two-year serious violence reduction order.
Gray pleaded guilty to theft and assault, while O’Brien admitted theft. They were both given an 18-month community order, with drug rehabilitation requirements of 12 months and rehabilitation activity requirements of up to 10 days.
Aaron Robertson
A burglar who broke into a flat by making a large hole in the roof said he thought the property was a cannabis farm. Aaron Robertson left the apartment’s residents homeless after destroying much of the ceiling to gain entry, even forcing one man to sleep in his car.
The intruder claims he thought the property had been converted into a drug factory and claims he intended to steal and sell the illegal substances he expected to find inside. But the father instead took thousands of pounds of his victims’ belongings, including a diamond engagement ring.
Robertson admitted the burglary and was jailed for 18 months. During sentencing, Recorder Michael Blakey said: “This has had a significant impact on the victims in this case. They felt unsafe in their own property. You left them homeless at one point because they couldn’t live in the property.”
Jonathan Rand
A man who made a small business adapting Amazon Fire Sticks for illegally streaming premium sports, TV shows and movies complained about being “busted” when he was caught. Jonathan Edge made at least £15,000 from the venture.
The 29-year-old advertised his services Facebook and Instagram for £30 per Fire Stick, with discounts for purchasing multiple devices. He admitted three counts of fraud and was jailed for 40 months.
Jakub Rembowski
A company director “sees himself as a victim” despite sexually assaulting a teenage girl in one Tesco parking lot. Jakub Rembowski turned out to be a ‘caring family man’ who was central to his church community.
But he secretly subjected his victim to a campaign of vicious abuse, leaving her ‘feeling like her world had fallen apart’. The father and owner of an IT consultancy company now says he is “terrified” after being forced to face the consequences of his sickening actions.
Rembowski was found guilty of three sex offenses by a jury after a trial. When he appeared in the dock, dressed in a dark gray suit over a white shirt, he puffed out his cheeks as he was jailed for 18 months.
Jamie Jones
A man has been jailed for nine years and nine months after being found guilty of two rapes. Jamie Jones twice raped a woman in her twenties in his homecausing her to suffer from “constant nightmares”.
Lee Ablitt
A The gym owner’s massive drugs conspiracy unraveled after police stopped a car on the M56. Lee Ablitt was stopped by officers on the highway for being a disqualified driver.
When police searched the 51-year-old’s vehicle, they found several boxes of Class C drugs. Officers then conducted further investigations, which resulted in two storage containers being searched, leading to the discovery of a significant quantity of steroids and performance enhancing drugs, along with a large amount of cash.
Ryan Cullen
A man “went crazy” and murdered his own grandfather after watching an Everton match with him. Ryan Cullen abused his 73-year-old grandfather Brian Cullenafter watching the Toffees’ 2–0 defeat at Manchester City with him on television because he “didn’t want to give him money for drugs”.
The pensioner died two weeks later as a result of the injuries he suffered when he was brutally attacked in his own bed. It came after the killer was hit by mental health problems and drug use following the breakdown of his marriage.
Cullen admitted manslaughter, with a count of further murders previously withdrawn by the Crown Prosecution Service. When he appeared in the dock handcuffed during part of the hearing and wearing a black Adidas T-shirt under a black zip-up top, he was given a five-year section 45a hybrid order.
This will see him receive treatment in a psychiatric hospital after spending the past nine months in Rowan View Hospital before being deemed fit for transfer to a prison. Cullen will then serve the remainder of his sentence behind bars and will be eligible for release on license after serving half the term.
Kevin Biji
A balaclava-wearing boy who tried to kill a love rival by plunging a machete into his heart has been locked up for life. Sixteen-year-old Kevin Biji lured his victim through a dark alley by posing as his own girlfriend on Snapchat before launching the gruesome attack.
The other teenager almost died after being stabbed twice in the chest and was only saved thanks to life-saving surgery. He was able to cycle home despite the brutal attack and seek help from relatives, then texted his partner to warn her that he “might die”.
Biji was found guilty of attempted murder by a jury, having previously admitted the lesser offense of wounding with intent to do grievous bodily harm and possession of a bladed article in a public place, but denied any intention to commit murder. kill. He has one previous conviction for causing grievous bodily harm with intent relating to an incident in 2022 when he was just 14 years old.
Defendants under the age of 18 generally cannot be named by the media. However, a judge lifted these reporting restrictions after a legal challenge by the ECHO due to the “great seriousness” of his crime.
Biji appeared via video link at HMP Wetherby wearing a gray Nike jumper, put his head in his hands and then sat down shaking his head after being given a life sentence with a minimum of 10 years in a young offenders’ institution. He was also served with a restraining order banning him from contacting his victim indefinitely.
Sina Hosseinpour
A man lured his cousin towards him before viciously attacking him. Sina Hosseinpour stabbed his relative through the window of his taxi twelve times just seconds after he pulled over to the side of the road, causing him to roll forward and crash into another car.
The 25-year-old was initially charged with attempted murder but later pleaded guilty to wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and possession of a bladed article in a public place. He was sentenced to four and a half years in prison.
