NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – Nashville business magnate Bill Freeman has died, Nashville Mayor Freddie O’Connell said.
Freeman was chairman and co-founder of Freeman Webb Company. He previously worked as director of Downtown Urban Development for the Metropolitan Nashville Development and Housing Agency and ran for mayor of Nashville in 2015.
Freeman was a prominent figure in the Nashville community and served on several boards, including the Davidson County Mental Health and Veterans Court Assistance Foundation and the Tennessee State University Foundation.
Mayor O’Connell announced Freeman’s death on Sunday evening and expressed his condolences on Freeman’s passing, saying:
“Tonight we lost Bill Freeman. Bill was many things: real estate visionary, mayoral candidate, pilot, media mogul, staunch Democrat – and friend.
Our city, state and nation are better because of his tenacity and dedication.
We will miss him very much, and my heart is with his family.”
