The actress explained that she always has a suitcase packed, so that it is ready to go at a moment’s notice.

“I usually always have a bag 90 percent packed,” she told Travel + Leisure in a recent interview.

“I have all the stuff I need in a bag so I don’t have to think about it.

“I know I’m always going to need glasses, my contact lenses, sunglasses, a little first aid kit, my makeup, my toiletries, so I might as well just have those there, so I’m not going:” What have I forgotten?’

The Elf star said having a pre-packed bag means there’s no last minute hassle over what to bring.

As a mother of two children, it also makes the run-up to a holiday a lot easier.

We recently shared another handy travel tip when it comes to packing and all you need are vacuum-sealed bags.

CBS travel editor Peter Greenberg explained that while the sought-after bags are great for “saving space in your closet,” they are far from ideal for airport security.

Airport security personnel have the right to check the contents of your vehicle luggage if they suspect that you are carrying illegal items.

Peter said, “If they do, they will break the vacuum seal.”

This can cause your bag to inflate, potentially making it too large for the onboard luggage space hand luggage requirements.

Airport security “is not concerned with packing, nor is it concerned with repacking,” the travel expert added.

“Your bag may not make it to your flight and you may not be able to see your bag for a while.”

When asked if travelers can use vacuum bags if they urgently need them, Peter replied: “Don’t pack them in your suitcases… if they open there, you’re in trouble.”

A study One in three travelers admitted they have no idea how to pack a suitcase efficiently.

A poll of 2,000 people found that 26 percent resorted to sitting on their suitcase to close it, and 11 percent faced fines for the weight of the luggage.

More than half (56 percent) have had to deal with a packing disaster as a result, such as broken zippers (21 percent) and leaking toiletries (20 percent).

Another frustration when packing is crumpled clothes: 64 percent are willing to do anything to prevent clothes from wrinkling while traveling.

And 76 percent would love it if they could unpack a suitcase and discover that nothing needs to be ironed.
