BLOOMFIELD, Conn. (WTNH) – Two suspects known for committing robberies led police officers on a chase after they were recognized at Lowe’s in Bloomfield.
Bloomfield police say 53-year-old Theodore Tobias and 34-year-old Portia Bick arrived at Lowe’s at 325 Cottage Grove Rd on Saturday. in a white pickup.
It was reported that Tobias and Portia, who were recognized from previous robberies in Bloomfield and Newington, were preparing to enter the establishment.
Tobias and Bick sped away toward the town of Hartford as Bloomfield officers closed in on them. They were later found in the area of Route 44 and Irving St. after crashing into a light pole.
A Bloomfield police cruiser suffered damage to its front passenger side after the pickup rolled backward and collided with it.
Tobias faces several motor vehicle charges and Bick was charged with possession of a controlled substance.
Detectives from the Bloomfield Police Department are investigating this incident.
