8-month-old child kidnapped during robbery in Azimpur rescued

An eight-month-old girl, who was abducted during a robbery at her home in Dhaka’s Azimpur on Friday, has been rescued. A suspect has been arrested in connection with the incident.

Lieutenant Colonel Munim Ferdous, director of the Legal and Media Department of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), confirmed the development on Saturday morning.

He stated that the child was rescued within 24 hours of her abduction. The suspect was arrested by RAB in Mohammadpur area. Further details will be announced at a press conference scheduled for Saturday afternoon.

Sources said that during the robbery, the miscreants not only stole valuables but also kidnapped the child. A woman who sublet a room in the house, along with a number of accomplices, reportedly orchestrated the crime on Friday morning (November 15).

The victim’s family alleged that the miscreants took cash and gold ornaments before fleeing with the child.

The child’s mother, Farzana Akter, works as a stenographer in the Security Services Department of the Ministry of the Interior. She lives in a rented apartment near Lalbagh Tower in Azimpur. Her husband works in a private organization.
