Andy Robertson believes Arne Slot is wrong about Liverpool’s current team. The Scot has been very open with his assessment.

Andy Robertson admits he hasn’t been at his best lately. The left-back struggled quite badly for 45 minutes against Arsenal a few weeks ago – perhaps the worst 45 of his Liverpool career.

And for any player 30 and older, that leads to accusations that he’s past it.

Some weren’t happy with Robertson’s performances last season either, but there’s no denying he hasn’t quite reached the level we know he can reach.

Offer from Madrid can be found in the BIN

Liverpool should not waste their time with a new offer from Real Madrid. The European champions can forget it.

ABC in Spain claims Real Madrid are effectively being forced to attempt to sign Trent Alexander-Arnold in January. They expect to sign him next summer when his contract expires, but plans have changed.

In short, they struggle with numbers. Dani Carvajal is out for the rest of the season, leaving them without an elite right-back. That’s a problem for a team hoping to retain the UEFA Champions League crown.

Alexander-Arnold is seen as the long-term replacement, making a January move semi-pointless; such a player would be out of a job next season.

Unless, of course, that January signing is Alexander-Arnold. Real will try to reach an agreement with Liverpool this winter to sign Scouser early.

And it’s one the Reds should throw straight in the bin.

Liverpool ‘far apart’ in contract talks with superstars

It will come as no surprise to anyone that Liverpool have been the best performers of the first three months of the season Mohammed Salah.

The Egyptian king is in excellent form and remains the most important man for Liverpool after the arrival of Arne Slot this summer. Ryan Gravenberch has also staked a strong claim for Liverpool’s best player so far this season, but Salah’s contributions simply cannot be overlooked.

However, Salah’s fantastic start to the season has been bittersweet as many supporters become increasingly concerned that this could be his last season for Liverpool.

The Egyptian is one of three Liverpool stars, alongside Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold, whose contracts expire at the end of the season. Although the summer still seems a long way off, time could be running out for the club to tie their talisman down to an extension.

Arne Slot has made a flying start in Liverpool and it almost seems as if he has had the Midas feeling since arriving on Merseyside.

Liverpool are currently five points clear at the top of the Premier League and also remain the only team to have won all their UEFA Champions League matches. The Reds’ new head coach has won 15 of his first 17 games, pulling away from suspected title contenders Arsenal and losing at home to Nottingham Forest, who are surprisingly fifth in the league.

But not everything Slot has done since taking charge at Anfield has paid off, and many supporters will view his only transfer window to date as disappointing.

In Slot’s first transfer window at Liverpool he completed just one signing, Federico Chiesa, although a deal was also agreed for the future transfer of Giorgi Mamardashvili, who will join the Reds in the summer of 2025.

Chiesa has only played 78 minutes of football so far this season, although he has provided an assist in this period. Reports indicate that a January departure is on the cards for the Italian.

Trent’s BIG DECISION

Trent Alexander-Arnold has completed football at Liverpool. The 26-year-old is in his eighth season as a starter at his youth club. It could well be his last at Anfield.

The England international is in the final year of his contract. He will be allowed to talk to clubs in January and it is no secret that Real Madrid and Barcelona are both interested in the transformative right-back. Real Madrid is already doing the work behind the scenes.

Their script is well known. The reigning LaLiga champions are using their influence in the Spanish media to announce their plans. For example, Marca reported last week that the fifteen-time European champions consider Liverpool’s number 66 a necessity.

He is considered Dani Carvajal’s heir at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Gary Neville’s terrible David Coote hit

Gary Neville has finally managed to have his say on the David Coote affair.

In case you missed it, the 42-year-old Premier League referee has been suspended pending a full investigation by PGMOL into the contents of a video in which he allegedly revealed bias against both Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp.

Neville usually has plenty to say about all things Liverpool, but he’s usually wrong. This time he may have outdone himself.

Speaking on the ‘It’s Called Soccer’ show for the Overlap US, alongside FIFA referee Christina Unkel and host Rebecca Lowe, Neville disagreed with Unkel’s assessment that Coote should never be allowed to referee in the Premier League again if found guilty found.

Instead, he was content to dismiss her expert opinion and launch a bizarre and impassioned plea on Coote’s behalf, covering everything from minimization to selective omission. It was truly a masterclass in bad argumentation.

Anyway, I’ve tried several times to muster a response to what I’ve seen, but the only way I feel like I can do it justice is to literally go through it line by line and tell Marcel how and why he is wrong.

Harvey Elliott is almost back in the fold at Liverpool. But he faces an uphill battle to get into the team under Arne Slot.

Harvey Elliott is nearing his return to Liverpool.

The 21-year-old has been training with the Under 21s this week as he continues his comeback from injury. It has been a very difficult time for Elliott. Rewind to the start of the year and Jürgen Klopp praised him for being the team’s ‘best player’ for a while.

He also finished the season on fire and rightly looked like a star. The feeling was that Elliott would explode past the other midfielders, almost all of whom were struggling with consistency.

But things have changed.

As Elliott nears his comeback, the situation at Liverpool is very different and the question is how he ends up in the team. After all, the youngster has only played seven minutes this season as he wasn’t getting any games even before the injury.
