IHSAA bowling season split into three classes

Southeast Iowa Union offers audio versions of articles using Instaread. Some words can be mispronounced.
The Iowa High School Athletic Association released the 2024-25 bowling classifications this week, dividing the sport into three classes.
Teams are divided into 3A, 2A or 1A. Class 3A consists of 32 teams, as does Class 2A. The other schools follow class 1A.
The IHSAA classifies sports based on school enrollment numbers each year to inform the following school year.
Enrollment numbers are provided by the Iowa Department of Education’s Basic Educational Data Survey (BEDS).

The three Union schools in Mount Pleasant, Washington and Fairfield have been placed.
Mount Pleasant, which shares a schedule with Danville and New London, is in Class 2A with a bed count of 695.
Washington and Fairfield are both in 1A with 329 and 328 counts, respectively.
