PUNCHES panicked when millionaire property magnate David Maxwell almost fell off the back of his horse as he was accelerated to the finish line.
Maxwell’s £200,000 purchase, El Cairos, still had miles in the tank when he reached the finish in Newbury, flying clear of his rivals.

The unexpected burst of speed from the horse trained by Gary and Josh Moore seemed to take the real estate mogul by surprise.
Punters took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to rave about the 45-year-old’s ride.
Someone commented: “He looks like he’s riding a motorcycle without a license.”
Another added: “He was almost on the horse’s tail at the finish.”

One said: “Punters are just thankful he never fell off when he went to use the whip.”
Another added: “He’s not still trying to drive, is he?”
Another said: “On a runaway train with no brakes in Newbury is a terrifying sight for the ambulance crew on course!”
One said: “For a moment I thought Paddy Brennan had made a comeback.”
Paddy Brennan is the now retired jockey who rode the Cue Card to miss the Gold Cup after the jock fell off at the third last fence.
Like Maxwell, his driving style was considered unorthodox by gamblers.

He’s also no stranger to owning a good horse these days, and El Cairos certainly looks something to watch.
Bettors were excited by the burst of speed the 16-5 favorite showed in the 2-mile race.
