Waterbury man arrested for three armed robberies in Southington

SOUTHINGTON, Conn. (WFSB) – A Waterbury man has been arrested for three armed robberies in the past seven days.

Southington police say they responded yesterday to the Go Happy gas station on Meriden Waterbury Turnpike for a report of an armed robbery.

The 911 caller told police that an African-American man entered the gas station, showed a gun and demanded money.

Police say the suspect, later identified as 33-year-old Jeremy Edmond, wore a face covering and dark clothing, walked behind the counter and took the money from the register himself.

Officers responded to two other gas station robberies on the Meriden Waterbury Turnpike earlier this week.

A similar description of a suspect and his vehicle in all three incidents led to an arrest when officers spotted a vehicle matching the description entering the on-ramp to I-84.

“When the vehicle passed the officer, the driver matched the description of the suspect in all three robberies,” police said. “The vehicle was tracked to the City of Waterbury where officers took the suspect into custody without incident.”

Edmond was found with a fake gun on the floorboard of the driver’s side of the car and a large amount of cash.

He was charged with theft, menacing, theft and breach of peace and held on $1,000,000 bond.
