Two adult teenagers charged in series of armed carjackings in DC

WASHINGTON, DC – Two juveniles and one adult have been arrested in connection with a series of armed carjackings and related crimes throughout Washington, DC, following a detailed investigation by the Metropolitan Police Department.

The arrests include 16-year-old Antonio Gaither of Southeast DC and 17-year-old Derrick West of Northeast DC, both charged as adults under Title 16 for multiple carjacking incidents. The charges against them include several violent encounters, including an armed carjacking with a gun on September 19 at 11th and K Streets, NE, and an armed carjacking with a knife on September 20 in the 800 block of P Street, NW. Gaither faces an additional charge for a Sept. 21 armed carjacking in Southeast.

In addition to the juveniles, 31-year-old Malcolm Demus of Southeast DC was also arrested. Demus faces charges of unauthorized vehicle use, credit card fraud and additional offenses related to the string of carjackings.
