Police detain around 40 protesters in Tel Aviv – newspaper – World

TEL AVIV, November 6. /TASS/. Israeli police have arrested about 40 people during protests against the dismissal of Defense Minister Yoav Gallat in Tel Aviv. Haaretz newspaper reported.

According to the newspaper, police used water cannons and other special means to disperse demonstrators.

Protests broke out in Israel on Tuesday evening after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced his decision to fire Defense Minister Yoav Gallant. Thousands of demonstrators blocked a highway in eastern Tel Aviv, while hundreds of demonstrators gathered near Netanyahu’s home in Jerusalem. In Haifa, demonstrators blocked traffic in one of the central streets.

Yair Lapid, leader of the parliamentary opposition, called on the Israeli people to take to the streets. He said it was madness to fire Gallat in the middle of the war.
