KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – An Overland Park, Kansas, pediatrician pleaded guilty to using video cameras to secretly record 13 child victims and producing child pornography over a three-year period from October 4, 2020 to October 28, 2023 r. .
Brian Michael Aalbers, 50, pleaded guilty Tuesday in federal court to 13 counts of attempting to produce child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography.
Aalbers could face 30 years in prison without parole.
Aalbers practiced pediatric neurology at Overland Park Regional Hospital.
According to the plea agreement, KCPD investigated a report of hidden video cameras found in Aalbers’ pediatrician’s office on October 28, 2023.

A witness later contacted officers and reported that Aalbers, of Kansas City, had been sending suicidal text messages.
Police officers in Lenexa, Kansas, found Aalbers and took him to a hospital for voluntary psychiatric treatment. The hospital seized two of Aalbers’ laptops, two iPad tablets and a mobile phone that were in his backpack.
Investigators obtained search warrants for these devices, as well as other cameras and electronic devices owned by Aalbers.
More than 50,000 video files were found related to hidden video cameras used by Aalbers, including more than 1,000 videos containing pornographic depictions of 13 child victims.
Investigators also obtained a search warrant for Aalbers’ iCloud account, which contained 1,000 additional photos and 163 additional videos of child pornography.
A sentencing hearing will be scheduled after the U.S. Probation Office completes its presentence investigation.
Aalbers remains in federal custody without bail.
