They both went in, but not the way I would have liked!

Harry Wilson may not have scored the goals he would have liked, but says it was a “great feeling” to win Fulham’s match against Brentford.

The Welshman was brought on by Marco Silva in the 82nd minute, with Fulham trailing, and had an incredible impact as he scored both goals in stoppage time.

“They both went in, but not the way I would have liked! The first one I just helped onto the back post and the second one was more lucky,” Wilson said after the match.

“A crazy ending. I thought we played quite well in the match, their goal was a great attack, but we didn’t deserve to go behind. We struggled with the last ball and they defended well.

“The manager told me to find space and if the ball went wide I had to try to get into the penalty area and that’s what I did.

“We kept the pressure on. We spent most of the second half in our attacking third, really keeping them in. We thought if we kept doing that we would get a chance.

“It was a great feeling to come on and score the two goals and win the game. We deserved it, we held them all the time.

“I asked the referee how long we had left. There were four minutes left, we knew there would be another chance. We kept the faith.”

‘A deserved victory’

Fulham head coach Marco Silva echoed Wilson’s words and said his side were worthy winners against Brentford.

“It was definitely a deserved win. We started in first place and dominated the whole match. In the first 20 minutes we had two clear chances to score,” Silva told BBC Sport.

“After they scored, we didn’t lose confidence or trust in ourselves. We kept pushing them back and created enough not to lose at half-time.

“I told the players that this is football, it can happen, but we have to keep pushing, work hard and play our way.

“It was late, it should have been much (more) earlier, but that’s football.”
