J.D. Vance ripped into Jake Tapper for taking him Donald Trump’s “words out of context.” During his Sunday State of the Union appearance, the Republican vice presidential candidate blasted the CNN host and his network for their lack of “integrity” in reporting on the former president.

“A viewer of your network would have believed that Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin conspired in 2016. That was completely and ridiculously untrue,” Vance told Tapper, who grilled the Ohio senator over the ex-prez’s rhetoric about attacking election officials who cheat.
“You’re taking words out of context,” Trump’s running mate said, adding, “If you wanted to put up a clip and actually put it in context, I think the American people would realize that Donald Trump is a great guy. much more reasonable than people want Liz Cheney who would like to lure us into war.”
The heated exchange between the two began when Tapper criticized Vance over retired General John Kelly’s suggestion that Trump would fit “within the common definition of fascist.” Vance, in turn, questioned CNN’s “integrity” in pushing the Harris campaign’s unlawful claims.
“Now, Jake, we also have to remember, I mean, take a step back. Ask yourself a basic question about network integrity. You were talking non-stop about the Russian hoax,” the 40-year-old venture capitalist said. However, Tapper fired back with, “The FBI was investigating, so we got them covered.”
Vance, unhappy with the journalist’s defensive statements, argued:
“You took the words of unnamed FBI agents and posted them on your network as if they were gospel truth. You did it again and again.”
“A viewer of your network would have believed that Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin conspired in 2016. That was completely and ridiculously untrue,” the vice president hopeful added.
While Tapper accused Vance of making “false” comments about his network, the Republican candidate claimed, “You told it in a way that gave credibility to anonymous sources (and) allegations.” You did it yourself. Your network did it, Jake.”
