Movie fans are devastated after realizing one of the most iconic films of the ’00s is about to leave Netflix.
Mamma Mia was released in 2008 and became an instant hit, starring Meryl Streep, Pierce Brosnan, Amanda Seyfried, Colin FirthLady Julie WaltersChristine Baranski and many more.
It followed bride-to-be Sophie (Amanda) inviting three of her mother Donna’s (Meryl) former flings to her wedding in Greecehoping to finally discover who her father is.
The musical led to an equally popular sequel, which hit our screens in 2018, and it has been There was intense speculation that we might be getting a third helping very soon.
However, many were outraged to realize that the beloved film is leaving the streaming platform in just a few days.
Netflix bosses placed a ‘leaving soon’ sticker on the film poster and confirmed that the ‘last day to watch Mamma Mia’ is on January 6.

Film buffs were outraged by the update and flocked to social media to unpack the news.
Rockrrylvr shouted, “THEY TOOK CLUELESS FROM NETFLIX???? AND MOMMA MIA TOO???’
Shiny Sapphire agreed: “I can’t believe they’re taking Clueless and Mamma Mia away from me. How could you watch Netflix?’
“They’re going to take Mamma Mia off Netflix (sic),” Sam wrote.
As Tam promised, “Mamma Mia has a “leaving soon” sticker on Netflix. I will contact the police.’

Directed by Phyllida Lloyd, Mamma Mia was a huge success at the worldwide box office when it was released almost two decades ago, grossing $611 million worldwide.
Ol Parker directed the sequel ten years later, starring Andy Garcia. Lily James, CherJeremy Irvine and Hugh Skinner join the cast.
Producer Judy Craymer has us all in a frenzy in 2020 when she teased that a third film will eventually premiere, as it was “intended to be a trilogy.”
Unfortunately, though Alan Carr seemed to confirm the sequel in 2023, there were relatively few details about when we could expect another visit to Greece.

Last August, Christine, who played Tanya in the first two films, said Judy had shed light on the plot – but couldn’t say much more than that.
She told the Hollywood Reporter: ‘I was in London with Judy Craymer at our favorite watering hole, she’s planning Mamma Mia 3. She gave me the storyline of how it’s going to happen. That’s all I can say!
“But it’s not like, ‘Oh, I wish it could happen!’ Judy Craymer makes things happen. She made number two possible and it was a phenomenal hit. I wouldn’t leave it to Judy Craymer to get everyone back together.”
“It’s exactly the kind of movie that makes people happy,” she added. ‘Mamma Mia has made so many millions of people happy around the world. Is it a little silly, a little campy? That’s part of the charm.’
Mamma Mia is now streaming on Netflix.
