Update on the amazing health journey of overweight Golden Retrievers makes people feel

Recently my vet told me that my cats need to lose some weight. As indoor cats, living in an apartment, their choices were not to increase their exercise, but to undergo a change in their dietary habits. I would have to replace their dry food because of the weight as it has less carbs. You can understand how dissatisfied they are about this. But they are experiencing nothing comparable to the problems faced by this Golden Retriever, whose weight problems and neglect were so extreme that she was on the verge of being euthanized for a pound before she was rescued. This transformation is indeed astonishing.

Frannie was an eight-year-old, 125-pound Golden Retriever when she was first rescued by an animal welfare organization in Los Angeles. She was severely neglected by her original owners, lived outside on concrete all her life and never received treatment for her hypothyroidism. By the time the rescue reached her, she couldn’t stand for more than a few seconds, couldn’t sit like a normal dog, and had huge rough calluses on her legs and tail from the way she was forced to lie on them . It.

Luckily, she found a new home that was determined to give her the life she never had before.

One dog’s weight loss journey

In the year since her rescue, she has lost almost sixty pounds and is now a lean sixty-five, a much more reasonable weight for a dog her size. They also received treatment for her condition physiotherapy so she could lose all that dangerous weight and start living the life she deserves.

“She learned to stand up on her own, walk, run, chase tennis balls and even tackle the water treadmill like a champ!” Writes her new family in this sweet video. “She discovered what it means to be loved and cared for, and most importantly, she gained her forever family and a whole new lease on life.”

How obesity can harm a dog

Obesity in pets can lead to many health problemssuch as joint problems, heart and breathing problems, skin problems and a overall loss of quality of life. When Frannie first came to live with her new family, she had to take a bath leaning on an overturned bathtub because she could not stand for more than a few seconds at a time. Her leg muscles had atrophied from lack of use. She couldn’t scratch herself with her back leg like a normal dog. She couldn’t even wag her tail!

It is too an important indicator of cancer. Obese dogs, due to all the health problems, have a life expectancy that is a third shorter than dogs of reasonable weight. A dog like Frannie, whose weight was so extreme that it prevented her from normal daily activities, was extremely dangerous.

Getting to this point took a lot of donations and physical therapy and you can follow what’s next for Frannie on social media. She starts living her life again and enjoys everything that awaits her in the new year.
